May 13 This day brought us to Washburn, ND Interpretive Center, Fort Mandan and the Knife River Indian Villages. The strange snow we had really made the story of the expedition come alive, since Lewis and clark spent the winter of 1805-1805 here.

May 14 The big site this day was Pompey's Pillar, where, on July 25, 1806, Clark scratched his name in  the sandstone cliff. Many Indian markings were also on the face of the rock.
