Sept. 21, 2006
Great Falls, Montana
to Fort Benton & Return

In Great Falls we stay at the LaQuinta, right on the Missouri River.

At the old American Fur Company's trading post on the upper Missouri River, we were treated to a very moving tour by an interpreter calling himself "Burnt Spoon"

He was a great storyteller, and really helped us to get the feeling of the fur trade.

Linn Griffin writes: "I was impressed and humbled during the learning, touring, and shopping experience i Fort Benton. It allowed me to become aware of the country and consideration of the townspeople and the pride they have in their part of the history concerning the Lewis and Clark Expedition."

Also at Fort Benton is a great Agricultural Museum housing, among other things, a great collection of taxidermy.
