Council Bluffs, IA to Yankton, SD - 170 miles / 790 ok
First stop today was at a little L&C park near Onawa, IA, where Butch Bouvier builds replica Lewis and Clark boats. he has built boats for DNR and for museums. he has ben featured on TV.  That's our flag flying at the stern.

At Sioux City, IA we saw the monument erected to the "Only One Man who died on the trip -- Sgt. Charles Floyd

This museum has great display, photos, and robots, and tells the story of the major happening of the L&C expedition in this area.

On Aug. 25, 1804 Lewis and Clark climbed "Spirit Mound" near Vermilion, SD, to investigate reports of mysterious beings. The Indians were terrified of it, but we climbed it to walk in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark.
