At Dayton, WA we looked at the approximate campsite of May 2, 1806 on the return trip. Local folks have outdone themselves with these steel silhouetes. Every member of the party, every horse, and some visitors are depicted. ok

At the Maryhill Museum, one of the most unique exhibits is "Theatre de la Mode." shortly after World War II, Paris was trying to maintain its leadership of the fashion world, but materials were woefully short, so these wire manikins at 1/3 scale were created and various designers contributed the fashions.

Across from Maryhill we walked a few steps on part of the Oregon Trail.

At The Dalles Discovery Center we saw exhibits ranging from ancient geology to modern wind-surfing. the photo at the right represents a wagon that has been taken apart and put on a boat to float part way downstream.
