Day 2 - Sept. 20 - Great Falls to Fort Benton and back ok

Signs at Upper Portage Camp Overlook

Looking  at the site of the Upper Portage Camp.
Below is a replica of Lewis' iron boat frame, which did not work. At right Richard blows the soundenhorn to get us back on the bus, just as Lewis and Clark did 200 years ago.

Here's the group at Ryan Dam (The Great Falls of the Missouri River)

Next it was to Decision Point, the confluence of two rivers which initially puzzled the explorers. Was the northern or southern fork the true Missouri. Marjorie carries our flag above the Missouri river with the Marias River coming in center left.

A docent at this replica of the earyl fur- trade fort.
