848. Day 6, August 3:  Yankton, SD - Pierre, SD 275 = 1123

Here's our whole group at the junction of the Bad River (left) with the Missouri River. This is the spot where Lewis and Clark were confronted by the Teton Sioux Indians on Sept. 25, 1804


On the way we ran by the remains of a chapel at Fort Randall, which existed between 1856 and 1892...

...and a marvelous overlook of the Missouri from a rest area.


We saw two tepees today. One modern at the rest area and another at the South Dakota Cultural Center in Pierre, SD
