From Illinois to the Pacific
July 26 - Aug. 12, 2015

1892.. Day 10, August 4 - Billings, MT to Helena, MT 271 = 2163

From Fort Rock we view the Madison-Jefferson confluence forming the Missouri

On the other side of Fort Rock we find the Gallatin River. We will hike to the diagonal corner. and down to lunch.

Here at the forks,  Robert and Tom, as Lewis and Clark, discuss the naming of the rivers.

The Madison and Jefferson Rivers come together first to form the Missouri.
The Gallatin River enters 1/2 mile downstream by two mouths

Shannon gave everyone a small bottle and Bill got water from the newly created Missouri River to fill the bottles.

On our way to Helena we stop at Wheat Montana for a bathroom break

Stop and smell the Flours. Cool
