1849 - Day 10, June 28: Billings, MT to Helena, MT  +266 = 2115


We gathered at the beginning of the Missouri river by name, where Steve and Tom regaled us
with a little skit about the naming of the three rivers


Then hiked a fairly steep trail to a vantage point


From where we could look back to where we just were.


and also get agood look at the Gallatin river,

which debouches by two mouths about 1/2 mile downstream from the Madison-Jefferson confluence.


along the way we saw blooming Prickley Pear Cactus


We have now been at both ends of the Missouri River
